Overwhelm

Burnout

Burnout doesn’t usually happen overnight.

It creeps in quietly.

You take on one more task.

One more responsibility.

One more problem to solve.

One more person to support.

You tell yourself you’ll slow down once things settle down.

But they never do.

Many high-performing professionals don’t burn out because they’re incapable.

They burn out because they’re capable.

They’re reliable.

Conscientious.

The person everyone turns to when something needs doing.

The problem is that being the person who can do everything doesn’t mean you should.

Burnout isn’t always about working too hard.

Sometimes it’s about carrying too much.

Too much responsibility.

Too much pressure.

Too many expectations.

And not enough space to think, recover and recharge.

Looking after yourself isn’t a luxury.

It’s what allows you to continue performing at your best.

If you’re constantly running on empty, perhaps it’s time to ask yourself:

What am I carrying that doesn’t actually belong to me?
